Yikes, it has been forever since I've blogged!!!!!
Ken's birthday came and went with not a lot of fanfare. Gary and Carolyn gave him a fun card and two maple bars (a special treat since I rarely, if ever, let him have them), he heard from all four of his children, and I baked an applesauce cake for him. He was also given a very nice, very good bottle of single malt scotch - so what more could the man want?
We have shared some dinners back and forth, and recently Rod and Karen served brunch before the six of us went to Phoenix for the Bodyworld 3 exhibit - hence the catchy title for this blog.
I was the one who really wanted to see Body World 3, but I think all six of us found it very fascinating. These are actual cadavers that have been donated and plasticized and then displayed to illustrate the complex systems that our bodies are!! Everything is done very well and I would say with reverence for the people whose bodies were represented. The systems, the blood vessels, the organs and the muscles are amazing!! If it comes to your city, I would highly recommend your seeing it.
This week was our evening to go to Barleen's Arizona Opery in Mesa. It is quite a bargain with a ticket providing a roast beef and mashed potatoes dinner along with about 1 1/2 hours of entertainment by the extended Barleen family. A little bit of everything from country/western to impersonations of Elvis and Neil Diamond.
We have one more social outing before we go our separate ways, and that is Organ Pipe Pizza. I think I have blogged before about the world's largest Wurlitzer organ as the centerpiece for an enormous 'pizza parlor'. The six of us are going tomorrrow night.
We will be leaving here on the 16th and Gary and Carolyn are going to Laughlin for a few days as they begin their journey back to Victoria while we and the Spragues are going to go nouth. Rod and Karen are going to attend a rally in Laughlin the end of March, but we haven't decided where we want to go after the end of this month. When we leave here, we are going to go to Casa Verde, and then probably on to Flagstaff.
The weather has turned very hot very quickly, and even the locals are complaining. We are approaching the 90s this week. Therefore, we are going to travel north this week instead of south.
Ciao
